WYSEF Board Member
President
Marc Sheppard was WYSEF’s first Program Director (1997 - 2004), and then joined the board in 2009. He embraces WYSEF’s role in managing the trail system, and its mission promoting skiing as a life long activity. Having skied all over the USA, Canada, Europe, and Scandinavia, he feels that the Rendezvous Trail System stands out due to its unique blend of perfect-for-the altitude terrain, and a reliably long ski season. Since his first race in 1992, Marc has been committed to biathlon. He has raced in competitions around the world, including multiple Summer Biathlon World Championships. He has also medaled at Winter Biathlon Nationals and at Masters Biathlon World Championships. He coaches Junior and Masters Biathletes, and is a regular coach for the local ski team. His business supplies the biathlon equipment needs of the entire USA. Marc’s passion for biathlon led to the development of the current national-class Rendezvous Ski Trails Biathlon range. For many years, for the entire month of November (until Thanksgiving), the National Guard would bring their team and their targets to West. In 1997 Marc decided that West needed a permanent Biathlon facility. Since then he has designed, solicited funds, and supervised multiple upgrades to the Biathlon range, leading to it becoming one of the premier ranges in the country. In addition to biathlon and skiing, Marc enjoys hiking, hunting, and climbing. And he still races occasionally, under the guise of ‘product testing’ for his new Biathlon product designs.
